In celebration of Women's Month, we honor the legacy of Gregoria Dimayuga y Custodio (1872-1944), a distinguished Lipeña. She was born on April 24, 1872 to Don Domingo Altamirano Dimayuga and Doña Petra Africa Custodio. Her brother Albino Dimayuga was a prolific writer in Tagalog. Gregoria excelled academically at La Concordia and achieved high honors. In 1890, she succesfully passed the Spanish civil government's licensure exam for teachers (titulo de maestras). For 12 years, she dedicated herself to teaching Spanish as Supervisora de Castellano at the parochial school for girls (Escuela de Niñas) in San Juan, Batangas. Answering a higher calling in 1907, she joined the Order of the Agustinas Recoletas, adopting the name Sor Presentación de San José. She eventually became its First Superior Mother General. Throughout her career, she contributed significantly to education, serving as the Superior of Colegio de Sta. Rita, among other roles. She retired in San Juan and established the Virgin of Carmel Academy however it closed during the Japanese occupation. Still, her tireless dedication to education and faith continued until her peaceful passing in 1944.

The sad fate of Ciriaco Katigbak Morada (1881-1905). Together with Pacifico Kalaw Laygo, he was one of the pioneer Lipeños who participated in the American colonial government's Pensionado program in 1903, a scholarship grant for Filipinos to study in the United States. He entered the Agricultural College in Ames, Iowa, where he was remembered "as a most exemplary student, and no criticism of any kind was ever made concerning his conduct or his diligence in work. His school work and his outside life were alike most creditable." Sadly, he contracted tuberculosis. While he was ill, his ultimate desire was to get well and continue his studies. Driven by a deep commitment to contribute to the nation, he once said, "there's so much to do in my country, we must all do our best work to get ready to do it when we go back home." He succumbed to his illness and died on April 21, 1905. His remains were repatriated and were interred in the Lipa Campo Santo on June 13, 1905.
